Catch the Bus Month

Wokingham Borough Council is proud to be supporting Catch the Bus Month 2026, the annual campaign led by Bus Users UK celebrating the huge benefits of bus travel and inspiring more people to get on board.

This year’s MYTH BUSTING theme challenges outdated perceptions and showcases the reality of modern bus travel as clean, green, affordable and accessible.

Every day, around 10 million bus journeys get people to work, education, healthcare appointments, shops and social activities. Buses reduce congestion, cut emissions, support local economies and connect communities, yet many myths about bus travel still persist.

Throughout Catch the Bus Month, Wokingham Borough Council will be helping to bust those myths by highlighting the value of local bus services and encouraging people to get on board.

Catching the bus has been made easier in Wokingham Borough:

  • No need for the correct change – all Reading, Thames Valley and Carousel Buses services accept contactless payments
  • Don’t know when the next bus is due – the bus operators' apps provide you with live information
  • Not sure when to get off – look out for the next stop screens and on-board announcements
  • Not sure which bus to catch – visit our bus page or download our bus map
  • If you need any further help or information – contact the My Journey team
