Wokingham School Pupils Learn About the Benefits of Sustainable Travel
The school travel adviser visited a number of schools in the autumn term to deliver assemblies about sustainable travel to school. Emmbrook Infant School, Bohunt School, Hawthorns Primary School, Oaklands Junior School, Charvil Piggott Primary School have all taken part in these assemblies, with Oaklands Infant School due to be visited in December.
The main subjects covered in the assembly included the benefits of walking and cycling and ways that we can all walk and cycle more. Children learned about the health, environmental and social benefits of active travel. They also learned that parking away from the school and walking, walking or cycling outside school hours, and walking or cycling whenever possible, were all ways that they could integrate active travel into their lives.
