Try Cycling Roadshow at Wheatfield Primary School

On a very hot day last Saturday 7th July, 60 people had a go at riding a bike at the Try Cycling Roadshow at Wheatfield Primary school in Winnersh. Cycle Experience provided an amazing variety of bikes for people to try, including balance bikes, children’s and adult pedal bikes, recumbent trikes, Raleigh choppers, tandems and electric bikes. There were also bike trailers and tag-a-longs to try.  A total of 36 children and 24 adults tried out the bikes.

Children ranged from 3 year olds who were learning to ride to 11 year olds who had great fun riding the recumbent bikes and choppers. One of the participants was a lady who had not been on a bike for 30 years and it was great to see her riding around the playground on a pedal bike by the end of the event and also enjoying a ride on a tandem with one of our instructors.

16 people also brought their own bikes along for free security marking or to get them checked by Doctor Bike at the event. The My Journey team were on hand to give advice on cycling activities and cycle training in the local area and also sold cycle helmets and gave away some hi-vis items to participants to help them to be seen more easily when they are out cycling.  The My Journey smoothie bike was a popular attraction with many people making themselves a healthy fruit smoothie by pedal power!
