Get on your bike event at Reading University

The My Journey Wokingham team were at Reading University on 30th January for their get on your bike event.  The cold and snow may have been on its way but that didn’t stop lots of people from turning out for the ever popular bike event where students and staff could purchase bikes, accessories and get their bikes fixed up, to cycle into spring.

Students and staff had a wide variety of cheap refurbished bikes to choose from and stocks disappeared  fast especially as there were some lightweight road bikes on offer! Staff also provided some additional essentials like bike locks and lights and information about their loan bike scheme.

For those new riders, and some experienced ones too, the next essential stop was the My Journey stand, where the team provided information on local cycling paths and routes, their ever popular learn to ride and adult cycle skills workshops and sold discount helmets. Some even took a turn around the green on their electric bike, surprising themselves with the ease of how it worked.

Finally for those regular riders, there was also the welcome addition of Dr Bike. A monthly presence at the University, he helped fix a variety of problems and issues with bikes completely for free, letting people get back on the road and make their journeys sustainable.
