Fun Day and Emergency Services Day at Finchampstead Baptist Centre
My Journey team had a busy but engaging time with families attending the FBC fun day/emergency services day at FBC on Tuesday 7 August and enjoying all the stalls and activities on a nice dry and pleasant day. Our smoothie bike was very popular with queues waiting to blitz the berries into a healthy drink and even the deputy mayor, Bill Soane used pedal power to whip up a cool fruit cup for the mayoress!
Despite Dr Bike being on hand to check and fix bikes for free, only a handful of people had cycled so hopefully they had used their feet to travel to the event! We spoke to many people to advertise to our activities and answer queries, as well as handing out much information, and our active travel officer was kept busy by those interested in borrowing bikes from our bike shack to take round the track.
Later in the day, we ran a family ride down the greenway to Arborfield (all off road) and the dads and sons participating cycled round California Country Park, with eyes peeled for hidden hi-vis goodies to collect and just stopping to feed the hungry swans and their 5 cygnets!
