Child Car Seat Clinic at Tesco

At the end of term on an extremely hot Tuesday, My Journey ran a child car seat clinic at Tesco on Finchampstead Road to help parents in fitting seats in their cars, as well as fitting their children in the seats.  Both our child seat safety specialists were kept busy with checking seats all over the car park and tried to make it speedy so frozen groceries didn’t melt!  It was hard to keep cool so the team drank numerous bottles of water as well as consuming a much needed ice cream in the afternoon!

Parents are very grateful for the support at this event and one kind mum offered to buy us ice creams while another gave us a bunch of roses as a thank you for the advice she received last year!

The results from these checks are still a worry as they prove that parents struggle with correct fitting of their children in car seats and need support not only at the time of purchase, but when the child grows and changes seats or they change cars and need a different seat.  Out of the 29 checks carried out, only 3 had the seat and the child fitted correctly.  Please visit the Child Car Seat Safety website for advice on child car seats.
