beechwood time to shine

Wokingham schools seeing STARS

2016 has been busy with a number of schools working towards their bronze and silver ModeshiftSTARS award. Here's a flavour of what Wokingham schools have been up to this year...

  • Beechwood Primary School has implemented a cycle club. This allows children to work towards their Bikeability Level 1 and Level 2 with nationally qualified instructors. In addition, Beechwood took top spot in the Your Time to Shine competition in October which saw pupils submitting creative entries to promote being bright in the day and night.
  • Evendons Primary School has a walking bus in place that regularly attracts ten or more pupils. As part of their work towards earning their bronze award, Evendons School have also had a road safety assembly.
  • Pupils at the new Montague Park Primary School have taken part in Balance Bike training this term as part of their work towards achieving bronze. They are also working on setting up a walking bus.
  • Following on from earning their bronze award earlier in the year, Oakbank School have had assemblies on road safety and sustainable travel, as well as cycle training.
  • Gorse Ride Junior School are working towards their silver award. So far they have planned to hold a Doctor Bike bike maintenance session and a Bling Your Bike day.
