Sustainable School Travel Plan
Beechwood Primary School and Evendons Primary School have won grant funding to promote sustainable travel. This follows on from their successfully completing Modeshift STARS travel plans in the last academic year.
The grant funding, up to £2000, is available to schools who have achieved at least bronze standard accreditation with their Modeshift STARS travel plans. Eligible schools may submit an application for funding to support sustainable travel at their school at the end of each academic year. Applications are then assessed over the summer break, with funding being available in the Autumn term.
Beechwood Primary School plans to use the grant funding to expand its already excellent fleet of bikes. This will allow the school to train even more pupils to cycle. In particular, “Frog bikes” for younger pupils are especially useful.
Evendons Primary School is also using their grant funding to promote cycling. They intend to create a super cool bike shelter that can accommodate many more bikes than the school currently has capacity for.
Great job to both schools for all their hard work!!
