Summer Cycling Evening at Mulberry Grove
Last Thursday the My Journey team ran a Summer Cycling evening for residents from the new Mulberry Grove Development in Wokingham.
Dr Bike was there to diagnose and fix bike issues – including making 9 year old Molly’s brake levers closer to the handlebars to help her reach them more easily (a common problem with children’s bikes). The Community Wardens had their security marking kits, and we took less confident riders out to help them and give them some tips.
The community and libraries team had some quizzes and refreshments and My Journey Wokingham had conversations with local residents about how they travel, and keep healthy. We sold bike helmets (at £9 each they are much cheaper than in the shops) and arranged to loan one of our loan bikes to a lady who doesn’t currently own one.
We recognise that moving to a new area is a big change, and we’d like to help new residents of all ages discover their new community – cycling and walking are great ways to get around, and also to meet new people locally.
Please contact us if you’d like to discuss travel options or if you’d like us to come to your area to run a similar event.
