Safer Cycling Event at new development in Shinfield

Last week (Wednesday 28th March) the My Journey Wokingham team ran a successful after-school cycling event for the residents of Croft Gardens, a new housing development in Shinfield.

Children and adults were invited to bring their bikes along to be checked by our “Doctor Bike” mechanic and children took part in some practical cycling activities in the play park and were given some tips by our Cycling instructors.

11 children attended the session and 15 people had their bikes checked (and in some cases fixed) by Doctor Bike. The My Journey team were also able to give information on local travel and Bikeability training courses.

Community Wardens from Wokingham Borough Council offered free Bike Security Marking at the event and 12 people took the opportunity to have their bikes marked, so that they can be more easily reunited with their owners if they are ever lost or stolen.
