Brilliant Balance Bikes

My Journey Wokingham’s balance bike club is regularly seeing over twelve children come along to enjoy balancing and gliding together in the great outdoors, helped along with tips from the adults who run the club. The club began in October, and is run by Sustrans on behalf of the My Journey team, with support from Wokingham Borough Council’s Community Wardens and local volunteers.

No stabilisers necessary

The club aims to introduce children to the concept of using a balance bike, which is a great introduction to riding a pedal bike. Once children have mastered balancing, gliding and steering it’s very simple to add pedals to the mix without the need for stabilisers. Children love the games and activities we run, with pretend puddles, crocodiles and red hot lava often featuring!

Get involved

The club run every Thursday during term time as long as weather permits - the sessions are outdoors, on the track behind FBC Centre in Finchampstead. We are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us run the club too, so please get in touch if you’re interested in finding out more about helping or bringing your child along to the club. It is friendly, and free to attend, although we always appreciate donations!
