Bikeability Learn to Ride 5+ at Finchampstead

One of our most popular activities is our ‘Bikeability Learn to Ride’ sessions aimed at children aged 5+ who need a bit of help riding their bikes without stabilisers. We have very high success rates with nearly 100% of children able to ride after two sessions. Last week, we had some lovely feedback from Kate, mum to Heather (aged 8). Heather’s confidence had been knocked by a fall at a young age, and she was very nervous about cycling. However, our instructors got her going and she had a huge smile at the end of the session!

‘Heather had a lovely time and has asked if we can go on a bike ride this weekend'.

This is a complete contrast to the child who turned up at the start of the Bikeability Learn to Ride course with a strong fear of even getting on her bike.

Heather had a fall on her bike at a young age and sadly this had a very negative effect with her attitude towards bike riding.

One of the instructors, Brent, gained Heather’s trust  - which I was struggling to do myself – and I could see that as soon as she felt confident that he wouldn’t let go of her bike until she was ready her whole attitude towards learning again changed.

She was riding her bike safely and smiling again by the end of the session.  Trust me, this was a major achievement!

I would recommend this session to anyone who wants their child to learn how to ride a bike safely and understand how a bike works.

I would also recommend this to anyone who is struggling to teach a child themselves because the instructors are absolutely brilliant with the kids and make the whole experience very enjoyable (rather than stressful which is what I was experiencing myself)’.

Another parent also sent this thank you message after her child attended a recent Learn to Ride session:

Thank you both for a super session today. Isabella (age 5) said afterwards 'I can ride my bike without stabilisers, I didn't think I'd be able to do it'. You've given her so much confidence, thank you!

Cycle Experience are running some more sessions on our behalf over the summer holidays – to book your child on a session please contact them.
