Bike Shack Celebrations

On Monday 15th August, Wokingham's first Bike Shack officially opened in Finchampstead.

To celebrate the opening, a cycle filled day was organised by the My Journey and Road Safety team at Wokingham Borough Council. The day was filled with cycling fun including balance bike lessons for 3 – 5 year olds, a Learn to Ride session for 5+, a family led bike ride around California Country Park and pedal powered smoothies.

A whopping 42 children learnt to glide/ride on the bikes, 18 bikes were checked, 24 puncture repair lessons carried out and 14 bikes security marked.

It was a great day, full to the brim of cycling fun and sunshine. To top if off, the team received some lovely feedback from a number of the local residents who attended on the day.

"Just wanted to thank you for your hard work today getting Lilly and Sienna to cycle today. They both can cycle now and want to do it every day for the rest of their lives… their words.

I just wanted to send a huge thank you to the team down at Finchampstead FBC today. Victoria who did the lesson my son took part in was fantastic and we felt very well looked after by Dr Bike and all the team. I think these events are fantastic and just wanted to feedback my thoughts and pass on my thanks to everybody once more.
