Balance bikes at Rhymetime event – Dinton Pastures

On Monday, 18th June parents and children from all over Wokingham came along to Dinton Pastures Country Park for Rhymetime.  The library service entertained many of the children with stories and songs to sing along to.

The My Journey team were teaching children as young as 3 how to ride a balance bike.  For many children it was their first time doing so and despite some slow starts they were all feeling more confident at the end of their rides.  Over 29 children took part in this event with one young girl being so good at using the balance bike that she was upgraded to a pedal bike.

The younger children were kept entertained by using balance skills equipment: walking along the balance beam and walking along and jumping off the coloured stepping stones.

We also engaged with the parents/carers by promoting our future events and giving out advice on sustainable transport.

Our next Balance Bike Club will take place at 2pm on Thursday, 21st June at the FBC Centre, Finchampstead.
